Welcome to Midwest Film Journal, an Indianapolis-based group of film critics from the heartland who are dedicated to providing thoughtful analysis of film from all eras. Our site aims to be the most comprehensive offering of film discussion in the Midwest. We are associated with the Indiana Film Journalists Association.
Along with reviews and analysis of new movies, we will also be offering a number of regularly running commentaries, including “Film DNA” by Aly Caviness, which looks at the movies that inspired your favorite films, and “$100 Million Memory Hole,” by Nick Rogers, a look back at movies that found success in their time — and promptly disappeared from cultural relevance.
One of our most unique offerings is going to be “Midwest Movie Magic,” a series of articles written by Sam Watermeier that will cover locally produced film projects.
